Persons seeking federal disaster assistance must report the availability or receipt of duplicative funds and federal agencies will reduce the amount of disaster assistance accordingly to prevent a duplication of benefits.</p><p>The bill narrows the duplication restriction to apply only&nbsp;to funds from other federal programs or insurance, so federal agencies providing disaster assistance may allow recipients to also receive funds for that same purpose from any other sources (e.g., charitable gifts, legal claims).</p>","updateDate":"2026-01-11T23:23:23Z"},"markets":[],"stateBills":[],"meta":{"sources":["congress.gov"],"latencyMs":529,"ts":"2026-04-21T09:44:51.751Z"},"nextActions":{"inspect":[],"related":[{"description":"Search related legislation","method":"GET","url":"/api/public/query-gov?q=Don%E2%80%99t%20Penalize%20Victims%20Act"}]}}
