Bresnahan, Robert [R-PA-8]","party":"R","state":"PA","district":8}],"cosponsorsCount":0,"latestAction":{"actionDate":"2025-04-24","text":"Referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform."},"policyArea":"Government Operations and Politics","subjects":["Asia","China","Public contracts and procurement"],"actions":[{"date":"2025-04-24","text":"Referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.","type":"IntroReferral","chamber":"House floor actions","hasVote":false},{"date":"2025-04-24","text":"Introduced in House","type":"IntroReferral","chamber":"Library of Congress","hasVote":false},{"date":"2025-04-24","text":"Introduced in House","type":"IntroReferral","chamber":"Library of Congress","hasVote":false}],"summary":"<p><strong>Time to Choose Act of 2025</strong></p><p>This bill prohibits the federal government from awarding consulting services contracts to any entity that provides consulting services to covered foreign entities.</p><p>Foreign entities covered by the bill include</p><ul><li>the government of China, the Chinese Communist Party, the People's Liberation Army, or any Chinese security service or intelligence agency;</li><li>the government of Russia or any entity sanctioned under <a href=\"https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2014/03/24/2014-06612/blocking-property-of-additional-persons-contributing-to-the-situation-in-ukraine\">Executive Order 13662</a>;</li><li>the government of any country determined by the Department of State to have repeatedly provided support for international terrorism; and</li><li>any entity on certain lists maintained by the Department of Commerce, such as the Denied Persons List or the Military End User List.</li></ul><p>An agency may waive the prohibition on a case-by-case basis if it is in the national security interests of the United States and no other entity without a conflict of interest can perform the work.</p>","updateDate":"2026-05-18T15:20:39Z"},"markets":[],"stateBills":[],"meta":{"sources":["congress.gov"],"latencyMs":728,"ts":"2026-07-14T04:21:06.740Z"},"nextActions":{"inspect":[],"related":[{"description":"Search related legislation","method":"GET","url":"https://simplefunctions.dev/api/public/query-gov?q=Time%20to%20Choose%20Act%20of%202025"}]}}
