Analysis
South America's odds have declined 12.5% over the past week, falling from 24¢ to 21¢, suggesting weakening market confidence in the region's chances despite hosting Argentina as the defending champion. The 2¢ spread and $97,921 in 24-hour volume indicate reasonable liquidity for a long-dated sports market, though the $34.1M open interest is modest relative to typical World Cup betting activity. With a Cliff Risk Index of 4 and neutral regime, the market appears stable, though the sharp recent downtrend warrants monitoring for potential shifts in tournament favorites like Europe or South America's regional rivals.
Resolution rules
This market will resolve to the continent of the country that wins the 2026 FIFA World Cup, currently scheduled for June 11-July 19, 2026. If the 2026 FIFA World Cup is cancelled, postponed after December 31, 2026, or there is otherwise no winner declared within that timeframe, this market will resolve to “Other”. The definitive source of the continent for each country will be World Population Review (https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/list-of-countries-by-continent). The primary resolution sources for this market will be official information from FIFA (https://www.fifa.com/) and the World Population Review; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
