Will Khamzat Chimaev be the UFC Middleweight Champion on December 31, 2026?
Prediction markets currently give a 77% probability that Will Khamzat Chimaev be the UFC Middleweight Champion on December 31, 2026?. This contract trades at 77¢ on Polymarket, closing December 31, 2026. The 75¢ price implies a notably high probability for Chimaev to hold the middleweight title in 258 days, yet the asymmetric implied yields (47.2% for Yes versus 424.5% for No) suggest significant tail risk that the market may be underpricing the likelihood of title loss or non-achievement.
Analysis
The 75¢ price implies a notably high probability for Chimaev to hold the middleweight title in 258 days, yet the asymmetric implied yields (47.2% for Yes versus 424.5% for No) suggest significant tail risk that the market may be underpricing the likelihood of title loss or non-achievement. With only $87.49 in 24-hour volume against $2,051 open interest, liquidity is thin relative to the position size, creating potential slippage concerns and raising questions about whether the price reflects genuine conviction or illiquidity-driven mispricing. The recent 2¢ decline from 77¢ over seven days and the 4¢ spread indicate modest selling pressure, though the neutral regime score suggests no clear directional momentum.
