What SF Public Data covers

Attribution format

When you redistribute SF Public Data in substantially its original form, or cite it in published work, include this notice:

SimpleFunctions (simplefunctions.dev) — licensed CC-BY-4.0

A link to simplefunctions.dev or to the specific dataset/endpoint is sufficient for the “link to the license” requirement of CC-BY-4.0 §3(a)(1)(i).

AI training is affirmatively permitted

You may use SF Public Data to train, fine-tune, and evaluate machine-learning models — including commercial models — under the CC-BY-4.0 grant. See Terms §13.3.

Additional contractual terms

Redistribution as a competing public API or service is restricted by Terms §13.2, independent of the CC-BY-4.0 grant. SF’s interpretive authority over terms like “substantial,” “competing,” and “substitute” is set out in Terms §13.7, with current working definitions at /docs/legal-definitions.
