Analysis

The yield curve for KXBIGBROTHERRANK exhibits a flat structure across both tenor buckets, with all 34 constituent markets sharing an identical time-to-resolution of 158 days. Within this single tenor, probabilities cluster tightly around a mean of approximately 5.9% for R2 markets and 5.6% for R3 markets, revealing minimal differentiation by rank outcome. The cheapest YES probabilities appear in the R2 bucket, where ROM trades at 2.0%, ASH and JAS at 3.0%, and MAL and KAM at 4.0%. The R3 bucket shows similarly depressed prices for LAT, LYR, MAL, MEL, ROM, and TAY, all at 2.0–3.0%. Conversely, the highest probabilities cluster around specific contestants: BAR reaches 13.0% in R2 and 9.0% in R3, while RIC trades at 9.0% in R2 and 14.0% in R3, suggesting market consensus around a narrower set of likely finalists. The flatness of this curve—with no meaningful tenor spread—indicates that the market views the event outcome as largely predetermined or that uncertainty does not compound meaningfully over the 158-day horizon. The concentration of volume in higher-probability names like BAR and RIC, combined with the long tail of sub-5% probabilities across most other contestants, suggests the market is pricing a Big Brother finale where only a handful of players are genuinely competitive. The lack of a yield curve slope implies no temporal arbitrage opportunity; the market is not signaling that resolution timing uncertainty drives probability variation. Instead, the distribution reflects pure contestant-level

How to read this page

An outcome slate is a set of mutually-exclusive contracts that all settle on the same date. Their YES probabilities form a distribution over which outcome the market expects. Probabilities should roughly sum to 100% minus the venue’s overround.

Curve construction: each constituent contract is identified by its venue event_id (KXBIGBROTHERRANK on kalshi). Tenor is computed from the contract’s close_time minus snapshot time, rounded to days. We do not interpolate between tenors — every plotted point is a real, traded contract. Outcome-slate pages show price-as-probability for mutually-exclusive contracts; term-structure pages show price-as-probability vs days-to-resolution for the same underlying event.

How we compute these odds

SimpleFunctions aggregates live prediction-market contracts from Kalshi and Polymarket. Each slug groups contracts that resolve on the same underlying event, identified by venue event_id.

For binary slugs, the headline probability is the liquidity-weighted mid-price across all bound contracts. For multi-outcome slugs (e.g. elections with 3+ candidates), the headline is the leader’s price; we never arithmetically average disjoint outcomes — that would produce a number with no real-world meaning.

Snapshots refresh every 5 minutes during market hours; daily aggregates are computed at 04:00 UTC. The 30-day sparkline is drawn from per-ticker daily means stored in market_indicator_daily; 24h delta and movement events are derived from the same source.
